Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

What is the end goal of the Eternal Ruins?

There is no current end goal. For me, this is a project for life, and I will most likely always be making art that takes place in this world.

Will the Eternal Ruins be a game/book/comic/ttrpg etc?

A TTRPG is currently in the works, and I hope to do more projects in the future.

Where can I support the Eternal Ruins?

Interacting with my videos on Youtube is a great way to support the project. If you’d like to help the project in return for some extra content, you can find my Patreon here.

Can I create fan art/music/fanfiction? Where can I share it?

Yes please do, I always love it when people do that. If you want, you can share what you’ve made here on Discord.

What do you use to create your artwork?

I often use Blender to create the backgrounds for my art, and then paint and draw the rest in Procreate on my iPad Pro. I do not use AI in my process. For my figurines, I sculpt them in Blender and 3D print them in resin on my Elegoo Saturn 2 printer.

Lore Questions

What are the Eternal Ruins?

The Eternal Ruins are an endless ruin that continues forever in all directions, both horizontally and vertically. The structure is labyrinthine and easy to get lost in, with winding passageways and dead-ends. It is not a flat maze. Some areas of the ruins have notable traits, such being particularly damaged, dark, windy or flooded.

In more open areas, sunlight can make its way down from the structures above. No sky can be seen however, and any attempts to ‘reach the top’ always seem to be greeted by more ruins.

The Eternal Ruins are endless and make up the entire setting. Perhaps there are other places, but I’ll only be covering what takes place in the ruins themselves.

What are Wanderers?

They are children who awaken from stone statues and explore the Eternal Ruins. They don’t age or grow up and there are no adults. Other than that, wanderers need to eat, drink and sleep just like us. They can be any race, gender and identity that can be found in our world.

Are there animals in the Eternal Ruins?

Small animals can be found throughout the ruins. Some examples are: rodents, frogs, birds, fish, snails, insects, bugs, crabs and lizards.

Why are there no societies inside the Eternal Ruins?

There are no villages, towns or cities inside the Eternal Ruins.  There are usually no gatherings of more than five or six people together at a time. This is because the ruins are endless and vast, and the wanderers are very few. The labyrinthine nature of the ruins means that if you lose someone, you most likely will never find them again. Lastly, the many threats of the ruins makes it unwise to stay in one place for too long.

If there are no societies, how are there more complex items like swords, armor, clothing etc.?

These items can either be found from scavenging the ruins or have them crafted by spirits who specialize in such things in exchange for service.

How do Spirits survive off worship & offerings if there are no societies?

The spirits are starving from a lack of offerings, and their powers are fading. Some even fade away completely.
